HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-02-2007 SCAC MinutesPage 1 of 4 CITY OF DUBLIN SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES OF AUGUST 2, 2007 Call to Order Chairperson Al Edge called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Roll Call: Committee Members (CM) Present: Al Edge, Beth Wood, Martin Baron, Diane Bonetti and Delilah Vanderpool Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison Present: Rich Guarienti Staff Present: Anna Hudson, Recreation Coordinator, Diane Guenther, Office Assistant, and Paul McCreary, Parks and Community Services Manager Oral Communications - None Approval of Minutes – None Written Communication - None Unfinished Business - None New Business Team Building Workshop The Dublin Senior Center Advisory Committee met to participate in a Team Building Workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to better acquaint the Committee Members with each other and their roles. The workshop also gave the Members an opportunity to discuss common interests for the upcoming two- year term. Paul McCreary introduced the facilitator, Chris Bennett of WorkVantage, Inc. This company provides training and development for organizations. Chris began the meeting by giving an overview of the agenda as follows: • Getting To Know Each Other to Build a Team • Set Ground Rules • Budget Review • Lunch • Define Consensus • Develop a Vision of Success • Discuss Roles • Create an Action plan Each Committee and Staff Member then introduced themselves and shared what they felt the strongest asset was that they brought to the Committee, which were as follows: • Marketing “Vision” / Approach Project Management / Planning /• Organizing • Creativity, Vision, Observation • Perseverance / Stick with It • Common Sense – Reality • Love for Arts • Enthusiasm, Exuberance CITY OF DUBLIN SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES OF AUGUST 2, 2007 PAGE 2 OF 4 fo on Bigger Picture (Staff) cC eary, Parks and Community Services Manager gave a brief overview of the Fiscal Year 2007-2008 he Committee broke for lunch which was held at the Shamrock Café. CM Wood suggested that the City utilize creative marketing techniques to market the amenities of the Dublin Senior Center and attract Boomers. CM Wood pointed out that the images captured active seniors in a fun, beautiful social setting not unlike the Dublin Senior Center.
