CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 2. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS 2.1 Public Comment At this time, the public is permitted to address the Senior Center Advisory Committee on non-agendized items. Please step to the podium and clearly state your name for the record. COMMENTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE (3) MINUTES. In accordance with State Law, no action or discussion may take place on any item not appearing on the posted agenda. The Committee may respond to statements made or questions asked, or may request Staff to report back at a future meeting concerning the matter. Any member of the public may contact the Recording Secretary’s Office related to the proper procedure to place an item on a future Senior Center Advisory Committee agenda. The exceptions under which the Committee MAY discuss and/or take action on items not appearing on the agenda are contained in Government Code Section 54954.2(b)(1)(2)(3). 3. CONSENT CALENDAR Consent Calendar items are typically non-controversial in nature and are considered for approval by the Senior Center Advisory Committee with one single action. Members of the audience, Staff or the Senior Center Advisory Committee who would like an item removed from the Consent Calendar for purposes of public input may request the Chair to remove the item. 3.1 Approval of the October 6, 2022, Senior Center Advisory Committee Regular Meeting Minutes The Committee will consider approval of the minutes of the October 6, 2022, Senior Center Advisory Committee Regular Meeting. NEW BUSINESS 5.1 2022 Dublin Senior Center Annual Report The Committee will receive a presentation on classes, activities, events, and other programs that took place at the Dublin Senior Center during the 2022 calendar year. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Receive the presentation. Staff Report 5.2 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert The Committee will consider participating in the 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert and appoint a member to an Ad-Hoc Committee. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Consider participating in the 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert and appoint one member to the 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert Ad Hoc Committee to assist with recruitment and promotion of the Dublin Benefit Concert. Staff Report 6. OTHER BUSINESS Brief information only reports from Committee Members and/or Staff, including committee reports and reports by Committee Members related to meetings attended at City expense (AB1234). 7. No action was taken. 4 Attachment 1 Page 2 of 2 5.2 Review Senior Center Advisory Committee Bylaws and Rules of Procedure , Article VI, Section 1The Committee reviewed Article VI, Section I, of the Senior Center Advisory Committee Bylaws and Rules of Procedure to consider a change in meeting frequency from at least one time per month, to at least four times per year(February, May, August, November).On a motion by Committee Chair Qureshi, and seconded by Committee Member Kau, the Committee approved the recommended changes to the Senior Center Advisory Committee Bylaws and Rules of Procedure and recommended Council approval. DESCRIPTION: The Dublin Senior Center provides programs and services to adults 50 and better to foster a lifestyle of possibilities, build rewarding friendships, and take part in intriguing activities. The Senior Center allows patrons to feel active and youthful and gives them a sense of belonging when they participate in various activities and events. Staff will provide the Committee with a presentation including information and statistics on programs, special events, activities, attendance, volunteer efforts, and additional facility usage that took place at the Dublin Senior Center in 2022. 6 Page 2 of 2 STRATEGIC PLAN INITIATIVE:None. ATTACHMENTS:None. 7 STAFF REPORT Senior Center Advisory Committee Page 1 of 2 Agenda Item 5.1 DATE:December 1, 2022 TO:Honorable Chair and Committee Members FROM:Jackie Dwyer, Parks & Community Services Director SUBJECT:2023 Dublin Benefit ConcertPreparedby:Henry Siu,Recreation Coordinator EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:The Committee will consider participating in the 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert and appoint a member to an Ad-Hoc Committee. STAFF RECOMMENDATION:Consider participating in the 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert and appoint one member to the 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert Ad Hoc Committee to assist with recruitment and promotion of the Dublin Benefit Concert. FINANCIAL IMPACT:None. DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert is scheduled to take place at the first Dublin Farmer’s Market of the season on April 6, 2023. This annual event is coordinated in collaboration with the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) as a multi-generational program that services a wide range of demographics. Performers will include Dublin-based youth and senior organizations/clubs and programs that provide performing arts, multicultural awareness, and other youth-related activities. The event benefits the Dublin Fee Assistance Program. To continue producing a quality multi-generational event, the Senior Center Advisory Committee(SCAC) is being asked to assist by participating in an ad-hoc committee with members of the Y AC. Should the Committee choose to participate, it shall appoint no more than one member to join the 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert Ad-Hoc Committee. The appointed Committee member will provide updates to the SCAC at upcoming regular and special meetings. The Ad-Hoc Committee shall meet 8 Page 2 of 2 January 11, February 8, and March 8, 2023, to complete the following objectives: •Solicit youth and senior performers from Dublin High School, Cottonwood, Fallon, and Wells middle schools, City contract youth and senior instructors and participants, Dublin cultural arts businesses, and other venues where youth and senior artists perform, starting on February 15, 2023. •Work closely with YAC members to review applications between March 1-7, 2023 and select performers by March 10, 2023. •Assist with creating an event flyer for Staff review by January 25, 2023, to advertise in the Recreation Activity Guide, City website, and City newsflash, starting March 15, 2023.•Assist with soliciting sponsors and vendors to help off-set production related expenses and contribute to the Dublin Fee Assistance Program. •Attend the 2023 Dublin Benefit Concert on April 6, 2023, at the Farmer’s Market in Emerald Glen Park.
