REGULAR MEETING
Minutes
CITY OF DUBLIN August 22, 2018
The August 22, 2018 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at
7:00 PM at the Dublin Senior Center by Staff Member McPherson.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the Commission, Staff and those present.
ROLL CALL
Committee Members (CM) Present: Bedi, Bray, Chan, Furtado, Goel, Gowda, Huang, Imran,
Jain, Lakshman, Phaneendra, Sharma, Vurimi, Wong
Committee Members Absent: Carey and Mitr
Liaison Present: Goel, Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison
Staff Present: McPherson
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
3.1 Public Comments
Shawn Kumagai congratulated and thanked the Committee for their service during their term
and encouraged Committee Members to be active in the Community. Mr. Kumagai, informed the
Committee that he was running for City Council and was interested in hearing from the youth in
the Community.
Mary Ayers-Hughes Dublin Library Teen Librarian introduced herself and informed the
Committee on services the Library offers youth.
Council Member Goel congratulated and thanked the Committee for their service during their
term and encouraged Committee Members to be active in the Community.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
4.1 Minutes of the May 23, 2018 Regular Meeting
On a motion by CM Furtado, seconded by CM Huang, with Committee Members Carey and Mitr
absent and by a vote of 14-0-0, the Youth Advisory Committee took the following action:
ACTION
Approved minutes of the May 23, 2018 Regular Meeting as presented.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS – None.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS – None.
NEW BUSINESS
7.1 Bylaws and Rules of Procedure

Recreation Manager, Lisa McPherson, provided an overview of the Youth Advisory Committee
Bylaws and Rules of Procedure and reviewed the responsibilities of the Youth Advisory
Committee as contained therein. Staff emphasized the importance of attendance at the monthly
scheduled Youth Advisory Committee meetings.
ACTION
The Advisory Committee received the Report.
7.2 Election of Youth Advisory Committee Chairperson and Vice Chairperson
Recreation Manger, Lisa McPherson, presented the Staff Report. Committee Members Huang
and Wong provided a brief two-minute personal statement explaining to the Committee why they
should be elected as Chairperson.
ACTION
On a motion by CM Furtado, seconded by CM Jain, with Committee Members Carey and Mitr
absent and by a vote of 14-0-0, the Youth Advisory Committee Members voted to elect Youth
Advisory Committee Member Wong to the position of Youth Advisory Committee Chairperson
for the 2018-2019 term.
Committee Members Furtado, Gowda, Huang, Imran, Jain, and Sharma provided a brief two-
minute personal statement explaining to the Committee why they should be elected as Vice
Chairperson.
ACTION
On a motion by CM Wong, seconded by CM Lakshman, with Committee Members Carey and
Mitr absent and by a vote of 14-0-0, the Youth Advisory Committee Members voted to elect
Youth Advisory Committee Member Huang to the position of Youth Advisory Committee Vice
Chairperson for the 2018-2019 term.
OTHER BUSINESS
The Advisory Committee Members provided brief reports on upcoming events.
ADJOURNMENT
Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:41 PM.
