The meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM, by Vice Chairperson Julia Tomtania. I. Oral Communications 2.1 Public Comment Vanessa Thomas provided a Dublin Art Collective update and invited attendance to San Ramon Art Summit. 3. Consent Calendar— None. Commissioner, Steve Minniear, motioned to move New Business before Unfinished business due to a presenter on item 5.1, in agreement with Staff recommendation. RESULTS: APPROVED [UNANIMOUS] MOVED BY: Steve Minniear, Commission Member SECOND: Kathy Blackburn, Commission Member AYES: Tomtania, Agrawal, Minniear, Blackburn, Gabriell ABSENT: Liang 5. New Business 5.1 Avalon West/St. Patrick's Way — Public Art Recreation Supervisor, Tyler Phillips, called upon Art Consultant, Dorka Keehn, to provide a presentation on the Avalon West/St. Patrick's Way Public Art Project. The Commission discussed the future planning of the public art space, provided comments, and asked questions about the placement, maintenance within the agreement with Avalon, and lighting specifics. Public comment received from Sawsan Wolski. Commissioner, Steve Minniear, motioned to accept the artwork as proposed. RESULTS: DENIED [UNANIMOUS] MOVED BY: Steve Minniear, Commission Member SECOND: Julia Tomtania, Commission Vice Chair AYES: NAYS: Tomtania, Agrawal, Minniear, Blackburn, Gabriell ABSENT: Liang 5.2 "Go, Park, Read!" Little Library Temporary Public Art Project Selection Recreation Supervisor, Tyler Phillips, gave a presentation of the Little Library's Art/Artist selections based on rating sheets and Staff recommendations. Commissioner, Kathy Blackburn, motioned to approve the staff-recommended art selections for the"Go, Park, Read!"Little Library Temporary Public Art Project for Council recommendation. RESULTS: APPROVED [UNANIMOUS] MOVED BY: Kathy Blackburn, Commission Member SECOND: Julia Tomtania, Commission Vice Chair AYES: Tomtania, Agrawal, Minniear, Blackburn, Gabriell ABSENT: Liang Page 2 of 4 4. Unfinished Business 4.1 Review of Draft Cultural Arts Center Business Plan Parks and Community Services Director,Jackie Dwyer, gave a presentation on the Draft Cultural Arts Center business plan. Public comment was received from Vanessa Thomas providing feedback regarding fine art and the exhibition space. Then suggested an art summit for continued conversation. Public comment was received from Sawsan Wolski regarding the limitations of the space and catering to the youth. Public comment received from Chinar Desai stating that the city failed to reach out to local art vendors and consider the implications that this may cause to their businesses. Commissioners discussed public cost efficacy, provided comments on visual arts and partnerships, and asked Staff questions regarding community impact. Commissioner, Julia Tomtania, motioned to approve the Draft Cultural Arts Center Business Plan for Council recommendation. RESULTS: APPROVED [UNANIMOUS] MOVED BY: Julia Tomtania, Commission Vice Chair SECOND: Steve Minniear, Commission Member AYES: Tomtania, Agrawal, Minniear, Blackburn, Gabriell ABSENT: Liang 6.
