SUBJECT: Award of Purchase Order for Dougherty Assessment District Fence
Painting

RECOMMENDATION: Award purchase order to Quality Painting and Construction Co.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The low bid received, $19,300, is within funds budgeted for
construction.
DESCRIPTION: The current Capital Improvement Program includes a project to paint
the wrought iron fencing within the Dougherty Assessment District. This fence runs along Wildwood
Road, Fall Creek Road, and Willow Creek Drive, and separates the public right of way from the Alamo
Creek Channel. It has been over ten years since the fence was installed, and the paint has become faded
and chipped. The fence needs to be repainted in order to preclude further rusting.
Staff solicited bids from several painting contractors. Two contractors submitted bids. The lowest bid,
$19,300, was submitted by Quality Painting and Construction Co. This amount is within funds budgeted
for the work. The cost of the project is paid by the Dougherty Assessment District, which has a
substantial reserve. The property owners were not assessed an increased amount to cover the cost of the
painting.
Staff recommends that the City Council approve award of purchase order to Quality Painting and
Construction.
