EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will formally recognize the winners of the Nature in Our Backyard Photography
Contest as part of the 2021 Dublin Pride Week Celebration.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Recognize the winners of the 2021 Nature in Our Backyard Photography Contest.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Sufficient funding was included in the Fiscal Year 2020-21 Budget for this contest. In-kind
donations were provided by Mike’s Camera of Dublin for the contest prizes.
DESCRIPTION:
As part of Dublin Pride Week in April 2021, Dublin hosted its annual “Nature in Our Backyard
Photography Contest”. The photo contest was open to photographers who took photographs of
wildlife, landscapes, and beautiful scenery within the City between April 2020 and April 2021. The
photo contest closed on April 26, 2021 and the City received 159 submissions from 46 individual
photographers.
A committee of five judges voted to select the top 10 photographs, which were then posted on the
City’s website from May 6through May 21, and the community was asked to vote for its favorite.
The top four photographs based on the public’s votes will be awarded prizes and certificates of
recognition. The grand prize winner receives a $200 Mike’s Camera gift card, the first prize winner
receives a $100 Mike’s Camera gift card, the second prize winner receives a $50 Mike’s Camera gift
card, and the third prize winner receives a $25 Mike’s Camera gift card. The contest winners will
also receive a metal print of their photograph, donated by Mike’s Camera.
The City will continue to celebrate the contest winners by hanging the framed photographs in the

Civic Center lobby, as well as featuring the photographs on the City’s website.
The 2021 Nature in Our Backyard Photography Contest winners are as follows:

The City would also like to recognize Mike’s Camera in Dublin for donating prints of the winning
photographs and the metal prints as prizes.
