HomeMy WebLinkAbout9.2 Letter Regarding State Subvention f 3ao.. 10 THE CITY OF DUBLIN P.O.Box 2340 Dublin.CA 94566 (415) 829-Ml8 4600 • fi This letter is written as an expression of great concern on the part of the Dublin City Council , with regards to proposals at the State level which would substantially reduce State subventions to the City of Dublin. Those proposals which eliminate both the motor vehicle in lieu fees and the • cigarette tax would result in a loss of $475,000 in revenue to the City of Dublin. This represents nearly 14% of the City's total estimated revenue for its first full year of cityhood. Since the City of Dublin was only incorporated in February, 1982, substantial reductions in State subventions would weaken the ability of the City to perform those services for which it is responsible, and possibly threaten its viability as a City during its first years of existence. We would strongly urge the State legislature to look at reductions in State operations that are at least equal to those borne by most cities in California since the passage of Proposition 13. Further, that the legislature develop a plan for subventions to local government which eliminates the annual financial uncertainty for local government and thus permits local government to better plan those services which are closest to the people. Thank you for your consideration of our position. Peter W. Snyder, Mayor Peter Hegarty, Vice Mayor David Burton, Councilmember Linda J. Jeffery, Coumcilmember Paul Moffatt, Councilmember
