DESCRIPTION: At the September 12, 1995, City Council meeting, Councilmember
Burton requested that the issue of adopting English as the official standard language in the City of Dublin
be agendized for consideration by the City Council.
Cm. Burton provided language to be used in the attached Resolution for discussion and consideration by
the Council.

- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN

ADOPTING THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE
AS THE OFFICIAL STANDARD LANGUAGE
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin, California, is a community which encourages
multi-cultural activities and opportunities; and
WHEREAS, multi-cultural activities encourage a number of varied languages to
enhance said diverse population; and
WHEREAS, said diversity of languages causes a confusion in communicating
and creates a need for one official communication standard.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Dublin, California, shall
adopt the English language as its official standard language for all communication.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of September, 1995, by the
following vote:
