FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
None
DESCRIPTION: The Eastern Dublin Specific Plan includes a 56:t community park on
the Santa Rita Property which is commonly referred to as City Park. Concurrent with the development of
the master plan for the park, it is necessary to determine a name for the park.
The City Park Task Force has suggested the following three names for the park (shown in order of
preference): Emerald Park; Emerald Glen; and Dublin Glen.

The Parks and Community Services Commission considered names for City Park at their February 26,
1998 meeting. The Commission is in favor of having Dublin in the name of the park and favors Dublin
Glen. A representative from the Dublin Historical Preservation Association was in attendance at the
meeting and suggested James Witt Dougherty Park.
Since that meeting, and in keeping with the Commission's desire to have Dublin in the name of the park,
one additional name has been put forward, Dublin Green Park.
According to Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, glen is defined as "a secluded narrow valley";
green is defined as "a common or park in the center of a town or village".
It is recommended that the City Council determine a name for City Park m: provide Staff with additional
direction.
