Selection of Banner Design and Autgorization to Solicit Bids for St.
Patrick's Day Banners and Patriotic Banners

FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
$12,320 is budgeted in the Downtown Street Banner Replacements
Capital Improvement Project for purchase of new banners.

DESCRIPTION: The older "pot of gold" Sf Patrick's Day banners, which were
purchased over 1 0 years ago, ,as well as the existing patriotic "flag", banners are now worn to the point that
they need to be replaced. .' Staff solicited proposals for design of new banners from several local graphic
design firms and received one proposal from Lara Qureshi Designs.
The attachment includes three possible designs for St.Patrick's Day banners and three possible designs
for the. patriotic banners.Staff.is requesting that the City Council select one design for each type of
banner. Since these are custom designs, it will be possible for any banner supplier to bid on the banners.
The banners would be delivered in time for the upcoming Year 2000 S1. Patrick's Day, celebration and the
summer patriotic holidays. _
Staff recommends that the City Council review the designs presented and choose one S1.Patrick' s Day
and one patriotic banner design or provide other direction as desired.
