Alternate Street Name for Previously Proposed Street Name
of "Park Street" in Eastern Dublin

RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the Dublin Parmers in Education to name the street
ht~/~through a fund-raising event to aid the Dublin School District/City
of Dublin Technology Project, with the provision that the naming of
the street is subject to the standard procedures that the City must
follow in naming a street, including approval by the City Council.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
No cost to the City. Developer is to install the street name signs.
DESCRIPTION: At the regular City Council meeting of December 7, 1999, the City.
Council rejected the name "Park Street" for a street located between Dublin Boulevard and Central
Parkway, just west of and parallel to Tassajara Road. The Council then directed that Staff return at a later
date with additional street names for Council's review and approval.
Mayor Houston has since suggested that the ability to name this street be transferred to Dublin Partners in
Education to be auctioned off in order to raise funds for the Dublin School District Technology Pro~am.
If this suggestion is approved by Council, the naming of the street should be subject to the following
requirements.
1 ) That at least five (5) alternate names be submitted to the City, and that those names not be duplicates
of other existing street names in the Tri-Valley Area.
2) That these names be subject to being sent to emergency service proriders for review and comment.
3) That the final approval ofthe street name be subject to City Council approval
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize Dublin Partners in Education to name the street through
a fund-raising event to aid the Dublin School District / City of Dublin Technology Project, with the
provision that the naming of the street be subject to the standard procedures that the City must follow in
naming a street, including approval by the City Council.
