As there was not unanimous support for either of the routes presented, Staff was directed to investigate additional routes for further consideration. Specifically Staff was directed to explore routes utilizing Village Parkway north of Amador Valley Boulevard. Consequently a meeting was conducted and representatives from the City's Police, Public Works and Recreation Departments, as well as from the Dublin-San Ramon Lions Club were in attendance. The following two routes were considered: Route A The Dublin High School parking lot would be utilized as the staging area for the parade and the parade would proceed south on Village Parkway, west on Dublin Boulevard and north on Amador Plaza Road where the parade would disband. There are a number of concerns from both the Police and Public Works Departments and the Dublin-San Ramon Lions Club with the aforementioned route. They are as follows : 1. DHS parking lot is too small to accommodate the number of entries in the parade 2 . Two main east-west arterials in town would be shut down as a result of the route (Amador Valley Boulevard - both sides and Dublin Boulevard - north side) one alternative! to this route would be to proceed west on Amador Valley Boulevard instead of Dublin Boulevard disbanding at Amador Plaza Road. In addition to presenting similar problems as stated above, this alternative was deemed to be too short. Route B Amador Plaza Road would be utilized as the staging area for the parade and the parade would proceed east on Amador Valley Boulevard, south on Village Parkway, west on Dublin Boulevard, north on Golden Gate where the parade would disband. This route was favored by those in attendance at the meeting as it allows for an adequate staging area and smooth traffic flow. In addition, Regional Street would remain open leaving access to the adjacent shopping areas. Attached is a map which illustrates the parade routes considered at the December 9 , 1991 meeting as well as the two additional routes. It is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council approve Parade Route B and authorize the issuance of a parade permit to the Dublin-San Ramon Lions Club. --------------- ------------------------------------------------------ ITEM NO.A COPIES TO: Dublin-San Ramon Lions Club CITY CLERK FILE LTl0 OOVGHERTY HILLS PARK IAA KOLB PARK L Ni CD C:3 Jj It CENTER 100 300 DUBLIN POLICE SERVICES PARADE PERMIT APPLICATION 1.
