FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
Most of the curb is already posted No Stopping because
of the former bike lane. Cost to install additional
red curb or signing for areas not yet posted is
estimated at $500.
DESCRIPTION: Because of new developments constructed along the
south side of Amador Valley Boulevard west of Dougherty Road, an eastbound right-
turh lane has been striped for Dublin Meadows and a lane to accommodate through
traffic and right turns into Cross Creek Apartments continues eastward to Dougherty
Road. This area was previously striped as one through lane for cars plus a bicycle
lane. There is insufficient roadway width to accommodate two traffic lanes and a
bicycle lane. Bicyclists wishing to travel on Amador Valley Boulevard from
Stagecoach Road to Dougherty Road must now use the travel lane.
The City's Municipal Code effectively prohibits parking in a bicycle lane. Since
the bicycle lane has been removed in this area, a No Parking zone needs to be
established in the area where there are now two travel lanes. Staff feels that
parking could be allowed between Stagecoach Road and the beginning of the Dublin
Meadows right-turn lane. This area is directly in front of the Heritage Commons
condominium project. Some Heritage Commons residents have indicated that there is
insufficient on-site parking to accommodate guests and that they would like to be
able to use on-street parking. Approximately 325 feet of parking area would be
available and would accommodate approximately 16 to 17 vehicles.
Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing, deliberate, and
adopt the resolution which amends the description of the bicycle lane and
establishes a No Parking zone.

RESOLUTION NO. -92
A RESOLUTION OF THE GITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
ESTABLISHING A NO PARKING ZONE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF
AMADOR VALLEY BOULEVARD WEST OF DOUGHERTY ROAD
AND REPEALING THE BICYCLE LANE AT THE SAME LOCATION
The City Council of the City of Dublin hereby resolves as follows:
Section 1: Pursuant to City of Dublin Municipal Code Section 6.04.250, and in
the interest of public safety, a no parking zone shall be established on the south
side of Amador Valley Boulevard from a point 326 feet easterly of the easterly
curbline of Stagecoach Road, easterly to the wesCerly curbline of Dougherty Road.
Section 2: Said no parking zone shall be added to Section 6.28.010 of the
City of Dublin Traffic Code.
Section 3: Pursuant to City of Dublin Municipal Code Section 6.04.370, the
bicycle lane identified as south side of Amador Valley Boulevard is repealed from
the intersection of Stagecoach Road to the intersection of Dougherty Road.
Section 4: Section 6.72.010 of the City of Dublin Traffic Code shall be
amended as noted in Section 3 above.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 27th day of July, 1992.
