DESCRIPTION The last Municipal Election held in the City of Dublin was on April 10, 1984 . On May 14 , 1984 , the City Council adopted an ordinance consolidating the City Municipal Election with the Statewide General Election, held in November of even numbered years . Ordinance No 11-84 extended the terms of two Councilmembers until the Tuesday after the day of the general municipal election in 1988, and extended the terms of three Councilmembers until the Tuesday after the day of the general municipal election in 1986 . Because the County Registrar of Voters ' Office has 28 days from the election day in which to certify the official results of the election to cities which consolidate, an amendment to the Ordinance is necessary to extend the terms of existing Councilmembers until such time as the new Council is qualified to be sworn in . Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing, waive the reading and introduce the ordinance . CONSOLIDATION The City of Dublin municipal election shall be 'consolidated with the statewide general election which is held -on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in even-numbered years . Section 2 . EXTENSION OF TERMS OF OFFICE This section is hereby amended to read "City Councilmembers terms of office shall expire no later than the fourth Tuesday after the day of the general municipal election or until their successors are elected and qualified. " Section 3 . NOTIFICATION .TO REGISTERED VOTERS Within 30 days after this ordinance becomes operative, the City Clerk shall cause a notice to be mailed to all . registered voters informing the voters of the change in the election date and as a result of this change, elected City Councilmembers ' terms in office will be changed. Section 4 . POSTING OF ORDINANCE The City Clerk of the City of Dublin shall cause this Ordinance to be posted in at least three (3 ) public places in the City of Dublin in accordance with Section 36933 of the Government Code of the State of California.
