SUBJECT: Public Hearing - Ordinance Regarding Bus
Loading Zone (Red Curb) at Nielsen
School

FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Sufficient funds are available in the
1985/86 striping and marking budget.
DESCRIPTION: The principal of Nielsen School has
requested that a bus loading area be provided south of the
school ' s south driveway on Amarillo Road.
The purpose of this red curb would be to provide a place for two
school buses to load and unload students . At the present time
the buses attempt to park at the curb in the school ' s loop
driveway, however, it is frequently not possible due to parents
picking up or dropping off children. Currently, the curb
fronting the school is signed a.s a loading zone . The proposed
ordinance would revise the existing ordinance and set aside 100
feet of red curb marked as a bus loading zone .
Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing,
waive the reading and adopt the proposed ordinance on an urgency
basis .

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
ESTABLISHING TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
The City Council of the City of Dublin does ordain as follows :
Section 1 . PASSENGER LOADING ZONES:
Article 11, relating to "Passenger Loading Zones" of the Alameda
County Ordinance Code previously adopted by the City of Dublin is amended
to read as follows :
Section 6-430 . 27 shall be amended to read as follows :
6-430 . 27 Amarillo Road on the easterly curbline from a
point 110 feet southerly from the southerly curbline of
Ladera Drive southerly a distance of 193 feet; on the
southerly curbline from a point 470 feet southerly from
the southerly curbline - of Ladera Drive southerly a
distance 155 feet .
Section 2 . NO PARKING ZONES :
Article 7 , relating to "No Parking Zones" , of the Alameda County
Ordinance Code previously adopted by the City of Dublin is � amended by the
addition of Section 6-297 . 0 (No Parking Areas : Bus loading zones ) and 6-
297 .1, (Amarillo Road) to read as follows :
6-297 . 0 No Parking Areas : Bus Loading Zones .
Parking any vehicle other than a bus is prohibited
within the following described locations on the
following named streets .
6-297 . 1 Amarillo Road. On the easterly curbline
from a point 370 ' southerly from the southerly
curbline of Ladera Drive, southerly a distance of
100 feet .
Section 3 . IMMEDIATE EFFECT
This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its enactment
because the adoption and immediate effect thereof is necessary in order to
protect vehicular and pedestrian safety.
Section 4 . POSTING OF ORDINANCE
The City Clerk of the City of Dublin shall cause this ordinance
to be posted in at least three (3 ) public places in the City of Dublin in
accordance with Section 36933 of the Government Code of the State of
California.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Dublin on this 28th day of October, 1985 by the following votes :
