RECOMMENDATION~
Continue the P A 98-029 Urban Opportunity Area - General Plan
Amendment public hearing to the next City Council meeting on May
19, 1998 in order to provide affected property owners and the public
an adequate public comment period.

BACKGROUND:

The City is proposing a General Plan Amendment to designate Urban Opportunity Area boundaries within
the Eastern and Western Extended Planning Areas.
On April14, 1998, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the Urban Opportunity Area-
General Plan Amendment. At that meeting, staff recommended that the hearing be continued to the next
Planning Commission meeting (April 28, 1998) in order to give affected property owners and other
parties an opportunity to comment on the project.
Public notices describing the project and the public hearing dates were sent to all affected property owners
on April 14, 1998.
In order to continue providing an effective public comment period and to adhere to the public hearing
schedule as described in the public notice, staff recommends that the City Council continue this item to
the next City Council meeting on May 19, 1998.
