Sufficient funds are available in the 19$5-86 Striping and Marking Budget . DESCRIPTION The Traffic Engineer has reviewed the need for no parking restrictions on Dougherty Road , north of Sierra Lane . The need for restrictions was evaluated as a result of a complaint relating to sight distance for northbound Dougherty Road vehicles turning from Sierra Lane . The proposal would eliminate parking on the west side of Dougherty Road north of Sierra Lane to improve the sight distance and thereby improve the safety at that intersection. This proposed prohibition of parking extends for a length of 668 feet from the intersection and will remove approximately 28 parking spaces . The proposed red curb would front 6000 Dougherty Road ( Amador Valley Lanes ) and 6100 Dougherty Road (Dublin Mini Storage ) . The General Manager of Amador Lanes and the Manager of Dublin Mini Storage both favor this proposal and indicated that their businesses do not need on- street parking. Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a formal public hearing, deliberate , waive the reading and adopt the ordinance on an urgency basis . 1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- COPIES TO : Amador Valley Lanes 4 Dublin Mini-Storage ITEM N0. 10• ORDINANCE NO . - 85 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN ------------------------ ESTABLISHING TRAFFIC REGULATIONS The City Council of the City of Dublin does ordain as follows : Section 1 . Kinzel TJKM SUBJECT: Red Curbing on Dougherty Road North of Sierra Lane As requested, we have reviewed the feasibility of installing red curbing on the west side of Dougherty Road north of Sierra Lane in front of Amador Valley Lanes and Dublin Mini Storage. We have examined the conditions in the field and interviewed the managers of the two businesses. Meta Allen, General Manager of Amador Valley Lanes, is very much in favor of parking restrictions on Dougherty Road in front of their parking lot. She mentioned that semi-trucks parked on the street have occasionally blocked drivers' sight and created safety hazards for vehicles leaving their site. Ken Schroeder, Manager of Dublin Mini Storage, is also in favor of the red curbing idea. Both of them indicated that no on-street parking is needed to serve their sites. It is also noted that the red-curb restriction would increase the width of the pavement usable for travel lanes on Dougherty Road, which could have six lanes in the future. In summary, we recommend that red curbing be installed on the west side of Dougherty Road north of Sierra Lane for a length of 620 feet. psw 15701 PLEASANTON•SACRAMENTO FRESNO•CONCORD „ • ,' • 4y ,., tom_ .`3:aw '""„Ill'.:. .;; .`b& ° 1 . r r r' t 71E g 1, l r 331.0 ` 26 .« •' 1 .'' 331.0 AL Ji a. ; as .,• tt to. ash _aqf. }° A x•Fi1 "` ,Y t "x , b 't */i a J L , , y x y w . 327 "yam t `”p `^",•=v14p '; '
