DESCRIPTION : correspondence has been received from Dublin
Historical Preservation Association (DHPA) President, Tom McCormick,
inviting the city to participate in a ceremonial event to turn over
the keys for the Heritage Center to the city. The event is being
organized by DHPA and will also serve as an avenue to publicize DHPA
and increase membership.
The event is scheduled for Sunday October 16, 1994 from 1:00 p.m. to
5;00 p.m. The tentative schedule of events is as follows;
1;00 p.m. Museum at Murray Schoolhouse open for tours and Old st.
Raymond's Church open for viewing
1:30 p.m. BBQ Lunch prepared by Clampers - $5.00
2;00 p.m. Program Begins
- Performance by Dublin High School Band and Color
Guard
- Performance by Clampers Brass Band
- opening Comments by DHPA President
- Presentation of colors and flag salute by Boy
Scout Honor Guard
- Introductions of dignitaries
- Reading of the History of Dublin Cemetery, Old
Murray School and Old st. Raymond's Church
- Presentation of "Key" to Mayor and city Council
by representatives from DHPA, Amador Livermore
Valley Historical Society and Dublin Cemetery
- closing Comments by Mayor regarding future of
Heritage Center
Entertainment by the Clampers Band and site tours will continue until
approximately 5;00 p.m.
As explained in the attached correspondence, DHPA has asked for city
support in the following ways;
1. Print promotional flyer (3,000 copies)
2. Purchase banner and install on city banner poles on San
Ramon Road
3. Allow Church doors to be open so that people can view church
4. Display renovation plans for the Church and Schoolhouse

The estimated cost to the city for the aforementioned items is $875.
Although funds were not budgeted for this event, it appears that there
are sufficient funds available in the Heritage Center Budget due to a
change in the timeline for recruitment of the Heritage Center
Director.
It is recommended that the City Council consider the request from DHPA
to participate in and support the proposed special event on october
16, 1994.

Dear Mayor and Members of the Council:
The Dublin Historical Preservation Assn. respectfully request that the City of
Dublin participate in an ceremonial event celebrating the transfer of title and
keys of the Dublin Heritage Center to your care and preservation.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 16, 1994 from 1:00 pm to
approximately 5:00 pm at the Heritage Center on Donlon Way.
We plan to have the museum open for tours and Old Saint Raymond's
Church open for viewing. Music will be provided by the Dublin High
School Marching Band and the E Vitus Clampus Chapter 13 brass ensemble
commonly referred to as the Clamper Band. A barbecued hamburger lunch
will be available for $5.00, the flag will be presented for salute by a local
boy scout troop, attending dignitaries will be introduced, and there will be a
brief reading about Old Murray School, Old Saint Raymonds Church, and
the cementery.
As a concluding event, we ask that the Mayor accept a ceremonial key from
each of the properties former owner and comment about the city's future
plans for the Dublin Heritage Park.
We also request that the city participate in financing this event by helping
with publicity costs.
