FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Current amount of claim is for $750 in medical
expenses and $25 ,000 in general damages .
DESCRIPTION On June 17 , 1985 the City received a claim submitted
on behalf of Anthony Buccola , 8382 Cypress Court , Dublin.
The claim arises out of an injury sustained by a volunteer firefighter. The
claimant states that the incident occurred in the parking lot of the Shannon
Community Center. The claim suggests that the result was due to the parking
lot not being maintained in a clean safe condition.
The provision of fire services and the operation and maintenance of the
Shannon Community Center parking lot are both activities under the
responsibility of the Dublin San Ramon Services District . Therefore , it is
recommended that the City Council reject the claim and notify the City ' s
Insurance Broker and the claimant .

13 ANTHONY BUCCOLA hereby makes claim against the City of
Dublin for the sum set forth hereinafter and makes the
14
15 following statements in support thereof :
16 1. Claimants post office address is 8382 Cypress Court,
17 Dublin, California 94568;
18 2. Notices concerning the claim should be sent to John
19 Leonard, McCarthy & Leonard, 7027 Dublin Boulevard, Dublin,
20 California 94568;
21 3. The date and place of the occurrence giving rise to
22 this claim are: March 16, 1985 at or upon the parking lot of
23 Shannon Community Center, at or near San Ramon Valley
24 Boulevard, Dublin/San Ramon, California;

1 4 . The circumstances giving rise to this claim are as
2 follows :
3 While participating in fire extinguishing exercise
4 pursuant to Claimant ' s role as a volunteer fireman, Claimant
5 was in the parking lot of the Shannon Community Center . The
6 parking lot herein described was maintained in a negligent,
7 reckless and unsafe condition. Claimant was injured when he
8 fell as an approximate result of the condition of the parking
9 lot. The entity herein named, despite a duty to maintain the
10 aforementioned parking lot in a clean and safe condition to
11 prevent such incidents, failed to perform with reasonable
12 diligence thereby directly and proximately causing the injuries
13 suffered herein;
14 5 . Claimants injuries included ankle injuries, torn
15 ligaments , tendonitis, and related injuries;
16 6. The names of the public employees causing the
17 Claimant' s injuries are currently unknown; and
18 7 . -Claimant submits the following claim for damages to
19 date:
20 Medical expenses incurred to date; approximately $750 . 00
21 Estimated future medical expenses; presently unknown
