HomeMy WebLinkAbout4.5 County Fair Art Patron Program i I CITY OF DUBLIN AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: June 10, 1985 SUBJECT Alameda County Fair Fine Arts Patron Program EXHIBITS ATTACHED Letter dated May 7 , 1985 from Alameda County Fair RECOMMENDATION Authorize City participation in an amount not to exceed $400 FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Sufficient funds are available in the 1984-85 Budget DESCRIPTION The City Council authorized the City' s participation in the Fine Arts Patron Program in 1983 and 1984 . This program consists of the display of fine art entries and allows patrons to bid on the items . In 1983 , a suitable piece of artwork could not be selected . In 1984, a watercolor floral painting was purchased. This painting is displayed in the ' reception area of the City Manager' s Office . Staff recommends that the City Council again authorize the City' s ; participation. Staff will limit any bid to $400 . Dublin , CA 91568 Dear Kay ; On behalf of the Alameda County Fair Association and the Fine Art Exhibitors, I wish to again express my appreciation to you for your past support of the Fine Arts Patron Program. I cordially invite you to participate again in this most valuable program, thus contributing to the success of the 1985 Alameda County Fair. The Fine Art will be judged on Sunday, June 9. The Art Patron Preview Party will follow the judging at 6:00 p.m. in the Hall of Commerce. As Art Patrons, you will be the special guests of the Board of Directors' Exhibit Committee. The Directors will also be selecting their painting for the Fair Gallery. If you are unable to attend June 9, we will be happy to have you come to the show, which will then be hung, on Thursday, June 20 at 6:00 p.m. to make your pre-Fair selection. However, purchase may also be made at any time during the Fair, June 22 through July 7. Please take a few minutes to complete and return the enclosed response card in the stamped, self-addressed envelope. You may also call me, at 847-7612, or Salle Larson at 847-7590. We will be happy to answer your questions.
