The estimate at this time includes a 15% contingency. Also, it is hoped that due to
the low bidding climate we are experiencing, the bid will be well below the
Engineer's Estimate. The City's portion of the project will be charged to an
account that will be considered for reimbursement from a future assessment district
or fees as this area and the eastern planning area develop.
DESCRIPTION: This project will construct the easterly extension of
Dublin Boulevard between Dougherty Road and the Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-
way and a connector road along the Chabot Channel between Scarlett Court and the
Dublin Boulevard Extension.
Staff had intended to have the Dublin Boulevard Extension Assessment District
Engineer's Report available for the January 13th agenda; however, due to some
problems with the report and the need to confer with the property owners affected,
it will be delayed. In order to allow enough time for bidding the project and
awarding it at the February 24th meeting, Staff must advertise for bids immediately.
Plans and Specifications are complete, and it is recommended that the City Council
authorize Staff to advertise Contract 92-01 for bids. It is further recommended
that a special City Council meeting be scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st, in order
to review and consider approval of the Engineer's Report and Assessment Diagram.
