This contract is supplemental to the City's annual sidewalk remove and replace program, which replaces offset sidewalk which may present a tripping hazard. The grinding program will grind offsets which are not caused by tree roots or excessive ground movement at substantially lower costs, thereby increasing the number of locations which can be corrected. The City received a total of five bids (see attached bid summary) for this project. The low bidder was Phil Thomasson Construction with a bid of $8,995.00. The Engineer's Estimate for the work was $12,086.00. Staff anticipates adding locations to the contract because of the cost savings. Staff has reviewed the low bidder's proposal and checked with references and recon%mends that the City Council award the bid to the low bidder. a:grinding\agstawrd ITEM NO. ~, ,~ COPIES TO: Bidders RESOLUTION NO. -91 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT 91--09 SIDEWALK SAFETY GRINDING TO PHIL THOMASSON CONSTRUCTION WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on November 19, 1991, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract 91-07 authorized by the City Council on October 28, 1991, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work.
