RECOMMENDATION: Authorize Staff to solicit bids for pump replacement
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The cost of the work is estimated at $11,575. Funds have been
budgeted under Capital Improvement Project #9512 for this purpose.
DESCRIPTION: The pump for the Civic Center's Plaza Fountain is currently
inoperable and in need of repair. Staff has investigated the possibility of replacing the existing 60 HP
pump with a 30 HP pump in order to save energy cost in the future. Use of the smaller pump is not
expected to have any impact on the aesthetics of the fountain, and Staff expects the unit is to pay for itself
within about a year and a half through the savings in energy cost.
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize solicitation of bids for this project.
