RECOMMENDATION / Authorize Committee to secure the services of a
commercial real estate broker to assist the City in
identifying potential sites for a Civic Center
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None at this time
DESCRIPTION The Civic Center Feasibility Study Committee has met
and discussed the City' s office space needs as they relate to the amount of
land that would be required to house the City offices and police station.
After a detailed review of the City' s existing space requirements and what
the City' s requirements for space will be upon buildout of the primary
planning area, the Committee determined that a minimum of 3 acres would be
required to house the City staff and police .
Since the amount of available land is rapidly diminishing within the City' s
existing boundaries , it ' s the Committee ' s recommendation that the City
Council authorize the Committee to secure the services of a commercial real
estate broker to provide an up-to-date survey of sites consisting of a
minimum of 3 acres. Upon completion of the survey, the Committee will
present a detailed report to the City Council for its consideration prior to
entering into property negotiations for a Civic Center site .
