RECOMMENDATION: ~ Adopt resolution awarding bid to O'Grady Paving.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
The project costs are budgeted in the Capital Improvement budget
and in the Street Maintenance Operating Budget. Funding is derived
from the General Fund, Gas Tax, Measure B, and SB300 funds. The
total project budget is $ 371,019 ($360,269 for this contract). A
breakdown of project costs and funding sources is shown on
Exhibit 3.
The Iow bid received was $329,291.96. The final allowable
percentage for SB 300 funding is 5.88% instead of the 10%
budgeted. This smaller funding match will reduce the SB300
funding by $15,150 based on the low bid. This, in turn, will lower~
our available construction budget to $345,119, which still allows
$15,827 for contingencies.
DESCRIPTION: On February 27th, the City Council authorized Staffto solicit bids
for Contract 96-02 Annual Street Repair and Overlay.
This contract consists of the overlay Capital Improvement Project, as well as the repair for the overlay
streets and for the Annual Slurry Seal program.

The 1995-96 Aimual Overlay consists of removing and replacing failed asphalt concrete to a depth of 4"
and resurfacing the street with a 1-1/2-inch overlay of asphalt concrete. Reinforcing fabric will be used
prior to the overlay in order to prevent cracks from reflecting through the new overlay.
Streets to be repaired and overlaid under the 1995-96 program are:
Cedar Lane
Eden Street
Village Parkway
Spruce Lane Hemlock Street
King Way Prince Drive
(between Dublin Blvd. and AVB)
Poplar Way
Post Road
Hickory Lane
Hyde Court
This contract includes provisions to raise the median curb height along Village Parkway. This
cqnstruction is necessary to keep from paving to the top of the curbs which allows motorists to drive up
onto the medians. It will also help facilitate this and future overlay projects.
A total of 10 bids were received. The low bidder was O'Grady Paving with a bid of $329,291.96.
Staff has reviewed the bids and checked with references and recommends that the City Council adopt the
resolution awarding Contract 96-02 to O'Grady Paving.
Notices will be sent out prior to the begiiming of work in order to advise residents and business owners of
the work to be performed.

OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AWARDING CONTRACT 96-02,
ANNUAL STREET REPAIR ANDOVERLAY
TO O'GRADY PAVING
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did on March 19, 1996, publicly open, examine, and declare all
sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for
Contract 96-02 Annual Street Repair and Overlay/Street Monuments, authorized by the City Council on
February 27, 1996, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a
description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and
WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has reviewed the bids to
determine the lowest bid which was responsive to the requirements of the bid documents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby
award Contract 96-02 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, O'Grady Paving, at a bid of Three
Hundred Twenty Nine Thousand Two Hundred Ninety One Dollars and Ninety Six Cents ($329,291.96),
the particulars of which bid are on file in the office of the City Engineer.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of March, 1996.
