FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
The portion of the 1993-94 Street Maintenance
Operating Budget appropriated for the striping and
marking contract is $25,000.
DESCRIPTION: This is the third year in which the City has solicited
bids for the striping and Marking Contract. In an effort to save annual bidding
costs and provide continuity of work, this contract is proposed to be for a two-year
period with an opportunity to negotiate rate adjustments after the first year.
Prior to 1990-91, this work was performed under MCE's maintenance service contract.
The operating budget for striping and marking includes the work contained within the
annual overlay contract,-curb painting and emergency work performed by MCE, and
this striping contract.
The quantities to be bid are based on known striping needs, with an extension for
probable needs; Striping required as part of the Overlay project is included as a
bid item in the Overlay CIP project, striping work to be accomplished during the
year under this contract includes striping for the annual street slurry seal
project, repainting existing striping, and miscellanous new striping as approved by
the City Council or recommended by Staff as a result of traffic studies.
Staff reconunends that the City Council authorize the solicitation of bids.
