DESCRIPTION : The Dublin Sports Grounds has been selected
as the site of the San Francisco Bay Area McSOCCERFEST. Dublin
United Soccer League is the local sponsor of the Bay Area McSOCCERFEST
and they will be working with the Championship Group, an Atlanta,
Georgia based professional sports marketing group, to organize the
event. McSOCCERFEST is sponsored by McDonald's, adidas, Fuji,
Coca-Cola and other local sponsors.
McDonald's McSOCCERFEST is a grassroots soccer festival featuring a
4-on-4 tournament for youth ages 5-16; and a soccer fun festival with
a McKicks show, contest, games, music and prizes for the whole family.
The McSOCCERFEST Tour is targeted at the nine World Cup USA '94 Soccer
markets. All the McSOCCERFEST events will feature appearances by
"Soccer Tom" Mulroy, the popular Pied Piper of soccer, noted juggler
and youth soccer expert. In addition to the 4-on-4 tournament for
kids, all the McSOCCERFEST festivities will include the soccer show; a
Soccer Wall; pass, dribble and shoot competitions; and, of course, a
visit by Ronald McDonald and his friends.
The McSOCCERFEST will be held the weekend of June 17, lS and 19, 1994.
The preliminary schedule of events is as follows:
Friday, June 17 5pm-Spm Registration, Dublin Civic Center
Saturday, June lS 3pm-Spm 4-on-4 Tournament Competition
McFun at McSOCCERFEST
Dribbling Contests, Penalty Kick,
Speed Gun KiCking, Prizes
Sunday, June 19 9am-5pm 4-on-4 Tournament Competition

MCChampionships
As the local host of the event, the Dublin united Soccer League is
responsible for obtaining the appropriate permits for use of city
facilities and supplyin~ volunteers to staff and supervise the
activities. Representatlves from the Championship Group will be in
attendance to coordinate the site preparation and organize the various
events. The corporate sponsors of the event will be represented
through promotional "give-aways" and through sales of McSOCCERFEST and
World Cup USA '94 memorabilia. (All vendors will be required to
comply with city business licensing requirements.) Liability
Insurance will be provided to the city by both the Dublin United
Soccer League and the Championship Group.
The City'S role in the McSOCCERFEST is to oversee the reservation of
the facilities and provide logistical support during the set-up of the
event. In addit~orr;.as i~ is anticipated that over 1,500 people will
take part in the McSOCCERFEST, Police Reserves from the Alameda county
Sheriffs Department will be on hand to assist with traffic control and
parking. The estimated fee revenue to the city for the McSOCCERFEST
is approximately $765.00.
