FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Total claim is for $50,000.
DESCRIPTION On January 17, 1986 the City of Dublin received a
claim submitted on behalf of Douglas Morrison.
The claim alleges that claimant broke his index finger when a door slammed
closed on it at Nielsen Elementary School. The claimant was participating
in the* City Sponsored afterschool playground program. The claim requests
$25 , 000 in special damages and $25 , 000 in general damages .
Staff recommends that the City Council deny the claim and direct Staff to
notify the claimant and the City ' s Insurance Carrier.

bov ' s restroom at Nielson Elementary School during school
hours when the heavy door slammed shut on his index finger

NOTE : A claim relating to a cause of action for death or for injury
to person or to personal property or growing crops shall be presented
not later than the 100th day after the accrual of the cause of
action . A claim relating to any other cause of action shall be
presented not later than one year after the accrual of the cause of
action .
When a claim that is required to be presented not later than the
100th day after the accrual of the cause of action is not presented
within such time , a written application may be made for leave to
present such claim . The application shall be presented within a
reasonable time not to exceed one year after the accrual of the cause
of action and shall state the reason for the delay in presenting the
