DESCRIPTION: At the City Council meeting of July 21, 1998, City Council
authorized Staff to solicit bids for Contract 98-07, Mape Memorial Park Pedestrian Bridge. This project
was originally part of the Mape Memorial Park Renovation project, but was not constructed due to lack of
funding. The City subsequently received a $47,000 Transportation Development Act (Fund 211) grant to
fund this Capital Improvement Project.
The pedestrian bridge is proposed to be installed across Martin Canyon Creek providing access to Mape
Memorial Park fxom the bike/pedestrian path along San Ramon Road. Included in the project are the
construction of the two bridge abutments and asphalt and concrete paths leading to the bridge. It is
estimated that the pedestrian bridge will take approximately 8 weeks fxom the time it is ordered to be
fabricated and delivered.
A total of two (2) bids were received with the low bid being submitted by Biland Construction Co. in the
amount of $35,720.
Staff has reviewed the low bidder's proposal, checked with references and recommends that the City
Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract 98-07 to Biland Construction Co.

OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AWARDING CONTRACT 98-07
MAPE MEMORIAL PARK PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
TO BILAND CONSTRUCTION CO.
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on August 1 I, 1998, publicly opened, examined,
and declared all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and
Modifications for Contract 98-07, Mape Memorial Park Pedestrian Bridge, authorized by the City Council
on July 21, 1998, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a
description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and
WHEREAS, said bids were submitted tO the City Engineer, who has recommended that
the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin
does hereby award City of Dublin Contract 98-07 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit Biland
construction Co. with a bid of Thirty-Five Thousand Seven Hundred Twenty Dollars and No Cents
($35,720.00), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of August, 1998.
