The City has been awarded $38,166 in Transportation Development Act (TDA) Funds for Phase V of a project to construct handicap ramps throughout the City. The approximate cost for the TDA audit is $3,142 which has been budgeted in the Operating Budget. staff will increase the number of handicap ramps to meet the total TDA grant. This contract would repair the larger sidewalk offsets and necessary curb and gutter repair work. The Sidewalk Safety contract has been combined with the TDA handicap ramp work in order to achieve a cost savings by including similar work in a larger contract. Staff anticipates using the remaining $13,284.50 of the sidewalk Repair budget for a secondary repair project which will involve grinding smaller sidewalk offsets. This grinding method of repair is much less expensive per location which would allow many more locations to be repaired. The City received a total of nine bids (see attached bid summary) for this project. The low bidder was B & B Concrete with a bid of $47,651.50. Staff has reviewed the low bidder's proposal and checked with references and recommends that the City Council award the bid to the low bidder. COPIES TO: Bidders OI 'Y FILE I~ESOLUTION NO. 107-91 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TBE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT 91-07 ANNUAL SIDEWALK SAFETY REPAIR/ HANDICAP RAMP CONSTRUCTION TO B & B CONCRETE WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on October 22, 1991, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract 91-07 authorized by the City Council on September 23, 1991, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the city Council of the city of Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract 91-07 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit B & S Concrete, at a bid of $47,651.50, the particulars of which are on file in the office of the city Engineer.
