Acceptance of Bicycle Officer Safety Equipment Grant From Target
Stores

RECOMMENDATION: ;:;;Yc1) Authorize acceptance of grant from Target Stores for purchase
of bicycle safety equipment

(3) Direct Staff to prepare formal acknowledgment to the Donor
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
The $1,000.00 grant will provide for the purchase of four light-
weight utility belts with assorted holder attachments for four bicycle
officers.
DESCRIPTION: Target Stores has provided a grant to the City of Dublin for the
Curchase of four light-weight utility belts with assorted holder attachments to be used by Dublin Police
ervices. Per Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that all gifts and contributions be
formally accepted by the City Council. Therefore, it is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council
accept the gift and direct Staff to prepare formal acknowledgment to the donor in accordance with adopted
City Council policy. Furthermore, it is recommended that the City Council authorize the Mayor to
execute the budget change form.
The light-weight utility belts will replace the standard heavy, uncomfortable belts now being utilized by
the bicycle officers. The belts will be more suited to bicycle patrolling and enhance the officer's
performance.
