DESCRIPTION: At its February 14, 1994, City Council meeting, the City Council
reviewed the City's sidewalk repair policy and determined that the Annual Sidewalk Safety
Repair should again be funded by the City for Fiscal Year 1993-94. Staff requested that
the City Council authorize an additional appropriation from the General Fund in the amount
of $50,000 and reduce the contribution from Fund 300 by the same amount.
This Sidewalk Removal and Repair Project is estimated to cost $32,000, including
engineering and inspection work. The contract also will remove existing curb and gutter
and install a driveway in front of Miracle Auto Painting on Scarlett Court. Funding for
this driveway will come from the DBX project as the result of an agreement with the
property owner of Miracle Auto. The bid for this work was $1,300.
Staff anticipates using the remaining $18,000 of the Sidewalk Repair budget for a
secondary repair program which will involve grinding smaller sidewalk offsets. This
repair method was initiated last year and has proven to be lower in cost per location,
and the number of locations corrected has therefore been able to be increased.
--Wayne E. Swisher, Cement Contractor, Inc. is the low bidder for this remove and replace
~idewalk Repair Project with a total bid of $23,400.90 and includes $1,300 for the Dublin
Blvd. Extension . This bid, less the Dublin Blvd. Extension work, is $22,100.90 and
compares to the construction budget of $25,000.
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the Resolution awarding the bid to Wayne E.
Swisher, Cement Contractor, Inc.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AWARDING CONTRACT 94-02,
1993-94 ANNUAL SIDEWALK SAFETY REPAIR PROGRAM
TO N&YNE E. SNISEER, CENENT CONTIIACTOR, INC.
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did on April 1, 1994, publicly open, examine,
and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans,
Specifications, and Modifications for Contract 94-02, 1993-94 Annual Sidewalk Safety
Repair Program, authorized by the City Council on March 14, 1994, which Plans,
Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description
of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request
for bids; and
WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the city Engineer, who has reviewed the
bids to determine the lowest bid which was responsive to the requirements of the bid
documents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin
does hereby award Contract 94-02 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit,
Wayne E. Swisher, Cement Contractor, Inc., at a bid of Twenty-Three Thousand Four
Hundred Dollars and Ninety Cents ($23,400.90), the particulars of which bid are on
file in the office of the City Engineer.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this llth day of April, 1994.
