The low bid received, $11,800, is within funds budgeted for
construction of Emerald Glen Park.
DESCRIPTION:
Phase I of Emerald Glen Park, which is 19 acres located between Tassajara Road and Tassajara Creek and
between Central Parkway and Gleason Drive, is now under design. Phase I of the park site contains a
number of trees that are not part of the overall design of the park and would either be in the way of
structures, fields, or pathways.
As part of the design, a biological survey was completed by the City's contract biologist, LSA. No
endangered or threatened biological species were identified at the site. However, the Biologist
recommended that to ensure our construction schedule is maintained, we should remove all trees that
would be removed as part of the Emerald Glen Park Phase I Plan prior to the beginning of nesting season,
which begins in late February and continues through the Spring.
Staff sent a Request for Quotations for tree removal to ten firms. A total of seven bids were received.
The low bidder is Reliable Tree Experts, with a bid of$11,800. Staffhas reviewed the low bidder's
submittal and has checked their references. Their references included many Bay Area cities. Staff
recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding a purchase order for the work to Reliable
Tree Experts.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AWARDING PURCHASE ORDER FOR PROJECT 99-01
EMERALD GLEN PARK PHASE I TREE REMOVAL
TO RELIABLE TREE EXPERTS
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on January 25, 1999, publicly open, examine, and
declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the Request for Quotations and attached set of
Plans for Project 99-01 Emerald Glen Park Phase I, Tree Removal, which Plans, Specifications, and
Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative
to the proceedings under the request for bids; and
WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the
bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does
hereby award the purchase order for City of Dublin Project 99 -01 to the lowest responsible bidder
therefor, to wit Reliable Tree Experts, with a bid of Eleven Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars ($11,800),
the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of February, 1999.
