RECOMMENDATION Deny the claim and direct Staff to notify the claimant
and the insurance carrier .
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Alleged Punitive Damages : $30 , 000
Alleged Special Damages : $ 3 , 000
Total Alleged Damages : $33 , 000
DESCRIPTION The City received a claim submitted by Mr . George
Filstead on March 6, 1986 .
The claim alleges making a false police report, false arrest, and emotional
distress due to humiliation and vexation . The alleged damages occured as a
result of two incidents one occuring on December 1, 1985 and one on
December 7 , 1985 .' The City ' s 1985 insurance program covered claims incurred
through February 28, 1986 .
Staff recommends that the City Council deny the claim and advise the
claimant and insurance broker .
