FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
No cost associated with naming streets. The cost of street name
signs is paid by BART. Any future maintenance needed on signs
will be paid through the City's street maintenance operating budget.

DESCRIPTION: Members of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors requested
that the City approve the names "DeMarcus Boulevard" and "Iron Horse Parkway" for the two access
roads to the BART parking lot. Erlene DeMarcus was formerly Dublin's representative on the BART
Board of Directors and facilitated construction of the Dublin/Pleasanton Extension. At this time, the
westerly access road is proposed to be extended into Camp Parks as a primary access in the future.
Chapter 7.08 of the Dublin Municipal Code provides that street names may be adopted by resolution
without a public hearing. Staffhas contacted all pertinent agencies, including the U. S. Postal Service,
Fire, Police, and the Office of Emergency Services and has not received any objection to the proposed
street names.
These names are:
East Access Road - Iron Horse Parkway
West Access Road: - DeMarcus Boulevard
Street name signage has been installed and paid for by the BART contractor. Once the improvements
have been accepted, these access roads will become City streets and will be maintained by the City. Staff
reconunends that the City Council adopt the resolution approving these street names.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN

APPROVING NEW STREET NAMES "IRON HORSE PARKWAY" AND "DEMARCUS
BOULEVARD" FOR THE ACCESS ROADS TO THE BART PARKING LOT
WHEREAS, the City has received a request to name the easterly access road to the BART parking
lot "Iron Horse Parkway" and to name the westerly access road "DeMarcus Boulevard"; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Postal Service, emergency services, and other appropriate agencies have no
objection to the proposed street names; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 7.08 of the Dublin Municipal Code grants the City Council authority to
approve a new street name by adoption of a resolution without holding a public hearing; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL YED that the Dublin City Council finds that the new street
names are in compliance with Section 7.08.070 of the Dublin Municipal Code relating to naming of public
streets, and that the new street names will not be detrimental to the public health, safety, or general
welfare.
BE IT FURTHER RESOL YED that the City Council approves the names "Iron Horse Parkway"
(easterly access road) and "DeMarcus Boulevard" (westerly access road).
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of March, 1997.
