FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The estimated cost of the program is as follows:
Cost of Improvements $265,000

Sufficient funds have been budgeted.
_ESCRIPTION : City Staff has consolidated several small projects
requiring asphalt work with the Annual Street Overlay Program.
As with the program conducted in 198~-$5, the major portion of this project
involves placement of at least a one and one-half inch asphalt overlay on
streets that are in a deteriorated condition. A special pavement fabric
will also be placed over the travelway prior to the asphalt overlay. This
fabric will help bridge the existing pavement cracks and prevent the
reflection of the cracks through the new asphalt.
The following list identifies those streets in greatest need of repair which
are proposed to be included in the overlay portion of the contract:

~-~ncluded in this contract will be the repair of failed base areas for both
he overlay project streets and those which will be included in a slurry
seal project. Ths involves the removal and replacement of both the surface
asphalt and the underlying base material. Also, patching is required in
some areas where the bumps delineating the bike lanes have been removed. In
some cases, a grinding machine will be used to prepare the surface and
assure a smooth roadway.
The Engineer's estimate of the cost breakdown for improvements under this
contract are as follows:

it should be noted that the $10,000 expended for raising valves relates to
Dublin San Ramon Services District facilities. The District will reimburse
the City for the cost of these repairs.
It is recommended that the City Council approve the scope of work and
authorize Staff to advertise Contract 85-4 for bid.

be type DB and conform to the provisions in Section 85,
"Pavement Markers" of the Standard Specifications and these
Special Provisions.
Pavement markers will be placed at each fire hydrant
location. Markers are to be located 6" off the centerline of
the roadway at right angles to the fire hydrant.
