Selection of Vice Mayor

RECOMMENDATION: ~ Elect and Install Vice Mayor
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: In 1996, the City Council established a policy whereby a member of
the City Council would be selected in December of each year to serve as Vice Mayor for a period of one
year. In the absence of the Mayor, the Vice Mayor would become Mayor Pro Tempore and would assume
the temporary responsibilities of the Mayor.
. At the City Council meeting of October 20, 1998, the City Council determined that it would select the Vice
Mayor at the December 1 st meeting.
Staff recommends that the City Council determine who shall serve as Vice Mayor for a one year period.
