Report Prepared by: Diane Lowart, Parks & Community Services Director EXIllBITS ATTACHED: . ~plication RECOMMENDATION: ()n 1JvY Confirm appointment of Wanjiku \1v I Community Services Commission FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None Kamau to the Parks and DESCRIPTION: At the October 29, 1990 meeting of the Dublin City Gouncil, the Council adopted a resolution amending the Bylaws and Rules of Procedure for the Parks and Community Services Commission to provide for the addition of a student member to the Commission. Per the bylaws, the student member shall be appointed by the Mayor based on a recommendation from the Parks and Community Services Commission. ' The Parks and Community Services Commission, at their meeting of June 17, 1996, recommended that , the City Council appoint Wanjiku Kamau as the student member to the Parks and Community Services .:, Commission. Therefore, it is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council take action on the ,,' Commission's recommendation by appointing Wanjiku Kamau to the Parks and Community Services Commission. .:'~ . The purpose of the Commission is to consider and make recommendations to the City Council and Staff in all matters pertaining to the operation and maintenance for effective, efficient, and adequate recreation service for the citizens of Dublin. The Parks and Community Services Commission is made up of six members appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. The term of office for the Student Commissioner is for one year, commencing July 1st and terminating on the following June 30th. The Commission meets on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Commissioners receive $30.00 for att~ndance at each meeting. Please take a few minutes to complete the following questions. Your responses will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the Parks and Community Services Commission, followed by a personal interview to be arranged during the week of June 3, 1996. 1.
