RECOMMENDATION: ~opt Resolution and direct City Clerk to forward a certified copy to
the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: The City has received a letter from John R. Rusmisel, District
Manager of the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District advising that Dr. Harvey Scudder's term of
office will expire on January 2, 1998.
Dr. Scudder, who has served on this Board since 1983, has indicated a willingness to continue to serve in
this capacity. His new term will expire on January 2,2000.
In addition, Dr. Scudder is currently serving as Vice President ofthe Mosquito and Vector Association of
California (MVCAC). In two years, he will assume Presidency of this association which represents 55
agencies in the State of California.
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution making an appointment to the
Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees and direct the City Clerk to forward a
certified copy ofthe Resolution to the District.

The Board of Trustees of the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District
instructed me at their meeting of October 8, 1997 to notify you that the term of office of
Dr. Harvey Scudder, as trustee of this District, expires January 2, 1998. We
respectfully request an appointment be made prior to the expiration date for the two-
year term of trustee of this District representing the City of Dublin.
Dr. Harvey Scudder has diligently served on our Board since August 2, 1983. His
professional expertise in the fields of entomology and public health is of great value to
the District.
We shall appreciate your sending us a certified copy of your resolution appointing
your trustee to our Board for the term ending January 2, 2000.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CTIY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF Dublin

MAKING AN APPOJNTMENT TO THE
ALAMEDA COUNTY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin is authorized to appoint one member of the Board of Trustees of
the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District; and
WHEREAS, the term for the current appointee expired on January 2, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the term of this appointment shall be from January 3, 1998 through January 2, 2000;
and
WHEREAS, Harvey Scudder has expressed a willingness to be reappointed and to serve this new
. term.
NOW, TIffiREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Dublin City Council hereby appoints Harvey I.
Scudder, Ph.D., as Board of Directors Trustee representing the City of Dublin on the Mosquito Abatement
District.
BE IT FURTIIER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall forward a certified copy of this ReSOlUtion.
to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District.
