Dear Mayor Snyder:
I am writing to inform you that Governor Wilson has
proclaimed the week of September 23 - 27 , 1991 as California
Rideshare Week. I hope that the City of Dublin will join with us
in observing this important event.
As pointed out by Governor Wilson in the attached
proclamation, ridesharing effectively contributes to the
reduction of fuel consumption, air pollution, commute costs,
and parking needs. The success of ridesharing is especially
important to all citizens living and visiting in the San
Francisco Bay Area. I urge you to support local ridesharing
awareness and promotional activities.
Thousands of Bay Area commuters will leave their cars at
home and try an alternative form of transportation - carpool ,
vanpool , transit, BART, ferry, train , bicycle, walk, or
telecommute. Over a million "pledge" cards will be distributed
throughout the Bay Area, with California commuters eligible to win
one of many exciting prizes .
One of the first activities which you can undertake is to
issue an official proclamation of September 23 - 27 , 1991 as
California Rideshare Week .

WHEREAS, it is important that the men and women who constitute our state's
work force are aware of the many benefits which ridesharing has to offer both IN
