SUBJECT: Appointment of Vehicle Dealership Signage Advisory
Committee Members by Mayor Houston.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Budget $500 for incidentals involving committee.
DESCRIPTION:
As part of the 1998-99 Goals and Objectives, the City Council instructed Staff to evaluate certain Sign
Regulations changes. In particular, members of the Council asked staffto consider potential amendments
regarding Vehicle Dealership Temporary Signage.
At the 'June l, 1999 Council Meeting, the decision was made to appoint a Vehicle Dealership Signage
Advisory Committee. Vice Mayor Loc ~khart and Planning Commissioner Hughes have volunteered to
serve on this Committee. Staff was instructed to ask the auto dealers if they would be willing to serve on
the Committee if appointed. Attachment 1 provides a list of business and dealership representatives
expressing an interest in participating on the Committee.
BACKGROUND: .......
Staff suggests that the Vehicle Dealership Signage Advisory Committee be made up of elected and
appointed officials, a representative of the general business community (possibly by the Dublin Chamber
of' Commerce), one general community member and representatives from the arno dealerships. The
Committee is anticipated to provide the City, Council and the City Staff with helpful insights and
recommendations modifying the Sign Regulations, specifically with the vehicle dealerships' temporary
promotional signage.
RECOMMENDATION:
it is the recommendation of Staff that the Ci~' Council approve the Mayor's appointments to the Vehicle
Dealership Signage Advisory Committee.
