EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will consider appointment of Dr. James Kohnen as the City of Dublin appointee
to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District.

RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution Making an Appointment to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District
Board of Trustees; and direct the City Clerk to forward a certified copy to the Alameda County
Mosquito Abatement District.

DESCRIPTION:
The Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District represents 55 agencies in the State of
California.
The City has received a letter from John R. Rusmisel, District Manager, advising that Dr. James
Kohnen's term of office expires January 1, 2010.
Mayor Sbranti requests that the City Council confirm the reappointment of Dr. James Kohnen
as the City of Dublin's appointment to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District Board
for a term ending January 1, 2012.
NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH:
Noticing not required. Certified copy of adopted Resolution to be sent to Alameda County
Mosquito Abatement District. Copy of Staff Report to be sent to Dr. James Kohnen.

The term of office of Dr. James Kohnen, as trustee of this District, expires January 1,
2010. We respectfully request an appointment be made prior to the expiration date for
the two-year term of trustee of this District representing the City of Dublin.
Dr. Kohnen has diligently served on our Board since 2004. His professional expertise
in the fields of entomology and public health is of great value to the District. He
currently serves as Chairman of the West Nile Virus Committee and as an elected
Board member of the California Special Districts Association. Dr. Kohnen served as
President of the ACMAD Board in 2008.
We shall appreciate your sending ~~. a certified copy of your resolution appointing your
trustee to our Board for the term ending January 1, 2012.

RESOLUTION NO. XXX- 09
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
MAKING AN APPOINTMENT TO THE
ALAMEDA COUNTY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin is authorized to appoint one member of the Board of
Trustees of the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District; and
WHEREAS, the term for the current appointee expires on January 1, 2010; and
WHEREAS, the term of this appointment shall be through January 1, 2012.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Dublin City Council hereby appoints
Dr. James Kohnen, as Board of Trustee representing the City of Dublin on the Mosquito
Abatement District.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall forward a certified copy of this
Resolution to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District.
