There are no financial impacts to the City's budget regarding the installation and/or maintenance associated with PG&E's SmartMeter Program. PG&E will attach its SmartMeter equipment to three (3) additional street light poles, for which PG&E will compensate the City with a one-time payment of $2,340.00 ($780 per street light pole). DESCRIPTION: On February 3, 2009, the City Council approved an Agreement (Attachment 1) that allowed PG&E to lease six (6) City -owned street light poles for the purpose of installing equipment for the SmartMeter metering system. The City received $4,680 ($780 per street light pole). The system enables PG&E to read meters with greater accuracy and allows customers to monitor usage on-line. The Agreement is to remain in effect for a period of 20 years, after which time the Agreement will extend for periods of one year, until terminated by PG&E and/or the City of Dublin.
