"Parks & Recreation Month"
WHEREAS, `Parks & Recreation makes lives and communities better now and in the future." Parks preserve and protect the
natural and cultural resources in our community and provide access to the serenity and the inspiration of nature; and
WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation fosters human development, helping young people develop and grow into healthy adults and
helping adults lice longer; and
WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation strengthens community safety and security by offering positive alternatives for youth which
reduce juvenile crime; and
WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation services support more productive workforces, enhance the desirability of locations for business
and families, and stimulate tourism; and
WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation offer places, spaces and programs that facilitate social connections, the arts and lifelong
learning; and
WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation facilitates community problem solving and strengthens community image, sense of place and
increases cultural unity; and
WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation promotes health and wellness and reduces health care costs; and
WHEREAS, tens of thousands of children, adults and seniors benefit from the wide range of services, facilities and programs
provided by the City of Dublin Park & Community Services Department;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Tim Sbranti, Mayor of Dublin, on behalf of the City Council, urges all its
residents to enjoy and recognize the social, physical, mental, economic, environmental and community benefits derived by our
programs, parks and facilities, which provide something of value to everyone, and recognize July as "Parks & Recreation
Month". ;~~
