Crosswalk - Amador Valley Boulevard at Wildwood Road

RECOMMENDATION: Accept the improvements under Contract No. 08-16, In-Pavement
Lighted Crosswalk - Amador Valley Boulevard at Wildwood Road,

FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The Pleasanton Engineering Contract awarded by the City Council
on March 3, 2009 including a 10% contingency was $47,245.
Adequate funds have been budgeted based on the final project
expenditures. This phase of Project 96778 is funded by designated
mitigation revenue in the Traffic Impact Fee Fund.

DESCRIPTION: This Capital Improvement Project, "Bike Lane - Amador Valley
Boulevard Corridor" (CIP No. 96778), is being constructed in two phases. On March 3, 2009, Pleasanton
Engineering, Inc., was awarded the first phase contract to construct an in-pavement flashing lighted
crosswalk across Amador Valley Boulevard at Wildwood Road (Attachment 1). The crosswalk facilitates

traffic awareness and improves safety for those pedestrians and bicyclists who are traveling north south on
the Alamo Creek Trail and wish to cross Amador Valley Boulevard.
Phase I of this project is now complete, and it is appropriate for the City Council to accept these
improvements.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council accept the improvements
under Contract No. 08-16, In-Pavement Lighted Crosswalk - Amador Valley Boulevard at Wildwood
Road, and authorize the release of retention after 35 days if there are no subcontractor claims.
