HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-06-2017 SCAC MinutesSENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING Minutes CITY OF DUBLIN April 6, 2017 A Regular Meeting of the Dublin Senior Center Advisory Committee was held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Dublin Senior Center. The meeting was called to order at 9:32 AM by CM E. Mack. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The pledge of allegiance to the flag was recited by the Advisory Committee, Staff, and those present. ROLL CALL Advisory Committee Members (CM) Present: C. Mack, E. Mack, Salsman Advisory Committee Members (CM) Absent: Brizee, Kaur Liaison Present: None Staff Present: Jochner, Phillips ORAL COMMUNICATIONS 3.1 PUBLIC COMMENTS – None. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 4.1 Regular Meeting March 2, 2017 On a motion by CM C. Mack, seconded by CM Salsman and by a vote of 3-0-0 with Commissioners Brizee and Kaur absent, the Advisory Committee took the following action: ACTION Approved minutes of the March 2, 2017 Senior Center Advisory Committee Regular Meeting as presented. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS – None. UNFINISHED BUSINESS – None. NEW BUSINESS 7.1 Senior Center Registration Program Update Mr. Rich Jochner, Recreation Supervisor, presented the item as outlined in the Staff Report. Ms. Helen Coleman, Danville resident and current volunteer leader of the Trail Trekkers program had questions about unused funds at the end of the card’s annual cycle. Staff stated that funds would not be lost and could be refunded to the customer. Mr. Rich Guarienti, Dublin resident and former volunteer leader of the Trail Trekkers program, offered suggestions for the Registration Program and commented that he was pleased to see that drop-in fees would not be increased for those not participating in the Registration Program. SCAC Minutes – April 6, 2017 – Page 2 of 2 Committee Members had questions about programs that would be excluded from the registration program and whether volunteers would be registered. Staff explained that the programs excluded at this point would be the daily lunch program, food distribution program, and bingo. Staff would not require volunteers to join the registration program if volunteering is their only scheduled activity at the Senior Center. ACTION The Advisory Committee received the Report. 7.2 Trips and Tours Program Report Mr. Rich Jochner, Recreation Supervisor, presented the item as outlined in the Staff Report. Committee Members were pleased the City provided the opportunity to go on trips, socialize and visit interesting places. ACTION The Advisory Committee received the Report. OTHER BUSINESS CM C. Mack will attend the April Parks and Community Services Commission meeting and provide the Advisory Committee report. Mr. Tyler Phillips, Recreation Coordinator, informed the Committee about the Benefit Concert to be held at the Senior Center on April 9, 2017. Mr. Phillips also informed the Committee of the Annual Volunteer Luncheon on April 27, 2017. Mr. Jochner informed the Committee of the upcoming Foundation Bingo Luncheon on June 24, 2017. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Senior Center Advisory Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 10:16 AM.
