HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 049-88 EarthquakePreparedRESOLUTION NO. 49- 88 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN DECLARING THE MONTH OF APRIL AS EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS MONTH WHEREAS, the State of California continues to experience significant seismic activity, thus posing the threat of earthquakes with damaging intensities; and WHEREAS, the loss of life and property can be greatly reduced if appropriate earthquake preparedness measures are taken before, during, and after a damaging quake; and WHEREAS, these lifesaving procedures will be highlighted during the month of April as the Office of Emergency Services, with the assistance of governmental agencies, service organizations, educational institutions, major corporations, and Neighborhood Crime watch groups, provides information and education to citizens throughout the state; and WHEREAS, the measures presented in the "Be Aware, Prepare." campaign should increase public awareness-regarding proper procedures to follow during a tremor; and WHEREAS, this important earthquake safety information should be studied and observed throughout the year in order to prevent injuries, loss of life, and property damage during an earthquake. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby proclaim April 1988 as California Earthquake Preparedness Month and encourage all citizens to increase their knowledge and awareness of proper safety measures to follow before, during, and after an earthquake. 1988.
