The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM., by Commissioner Janet Songey. 1. Oral Communications 3.1. New Commissioner Ms. Ankita Sharma introduced herself and shared her background and experience. 3.2. Axis Presentation Sue Compton, CEO with Axis Community Health thanked the City for their support over the years and gave a brief history of Axis and its growth. Axis currently has five sites and provides a range of services including OB/GYM, pediatrics, mental health and services for seniors. They serve about 14,000 annually, including about 3,000 from Dublin. They also collaborate with other agencies and schools and provide referrals. Ms. Compton also provided an update on the progress towards opening a new dental clinic to serve the Tri-Valley. Axis has leased a former dental office on Regional Street in Dublin and plan to open the dental clinic in early 2019. They have hired a dental director and plan to serve about 2,000 people in the first year, with the ability to serve more people once a second dentist is hired. Consent Calendar 5.1. Approve the July 26, 2018 meeting minutes. Written Communication None. 7. Unfinished Business 7.1. Commission Interactions with Service Providers Commissioner Fiedler distributed a written statement that summarized his proposal for the Commission to visit grantees and other organizations, as well as the questions the Livermore Human Services Commission asks on similar visits. There was general agreement that the Commission should undertake visits. Ms. Butler said Commissioners would be representing the City of Dublin on such visits and that an action plan may need to go to the City Council for their approval. It was moved to proceed with the discussion on this topic at the next meeting. Commissioner's Reports Commissioner Fiedler distributed notes related to his attendance at the October 6, 2018 Senior Fair. Chair Songey reported that Child Care Links recently made a presentation to :Human Services Cbmmissiou October 18,2018 Special!Meeting <P a ff e 12 CityServe about their expansion to give books at diaper pantry to help address literacy needs Commissioner Costello reported he will be taking part in an event in Berkeley later this week celebrating advocates of the disabled. Chair Songey reported that she is co-chairing the Tri-Valley community outreach dinner; they are expecting to have 300 attendees at the event on Thanksgiving Day at St Raymond Church; Songey also reported she attended a recent town hall meeting on human trafficking. Commissioner Sharma said she is looking forward to getting more involved in the community here. Commissioner Costello reported he was recently appointed to the State Department of Developmental Services' Consumer Advisory Committee. Ms. larla reported that Staff from Dublin, Livermore and Pleasanton are currently working to update the "Human Services Pocket Guide". She also reminded Commissioners that the next meeting will be held on November 15. Ms. larla also reported the next Tri-Valley Social Services Providers Social will be hosted by the City of Livermore and held in the afternoon on November 15. 9.
