The report reflected the variety of senior activities, programs and services offered during the months of March, April and May. Staff explained that some of the increases in attendance are attributable to many of the special events and seasonal activities offered. Some of the decreases are attributable to the spring breaks for the Las Positas College and Amador Adult School classes, during which seniors take vacations accordingly. In May, the format for the Trail Trekkers program changed by dividing the group into two different levels to break the group down to a manageable size. The Trips and Tours continue to fill with waiting lists for some trips. There was a slight increase in extended travel and motor-coach trips offered by outside travel agencies that specialize in senior travel. 7.2 -ANNUAL TRIPS AND TOURS REPORT Staff gave a brief overview of the trips offered at the Dublin Senior Center during Fiscal Year 2003-2004. One change in the trip offerings from the past year was that one additional trip was offered each month bringing the monthly average to three day trips. Another reason for the increase in registration is the arrival of the new 15-passenger handicapped accessible bus. Over 549 registrations were received from August 2003 to June 2004. Of the total, 159 sign-ups were taken for trips that utilized another form of transportation, such as BART or motor-coach travel. Extended travel by Collette Vacations was introduced this year, which offers trips throughout the nation and internationally. The trip cost includes airfare, hotel accommodations, some meals and a professional escort during travel. The diversity and affordability of the trips aids in the success of the program. Meals are generally not included in'the registration fee in order to keep the cost down for people on a fixed income. The no-host lunches, allow participants to dine at restaurants that fit their budget, special dietary needs and tastes. Staff announced that a new Recreation Driver, Virginia "Ginnie" Frazier was hired to drive the Senior Center Bus. Ms. Frazier is a recent retiree from the Livermore Arnador Valley Transit Authority, and comes to Dublin with great knowledge and driving experience. The Committee Members suggested scheduling several holiday-themed trips to Ardenwood,Nevada City, and the Dunsmuir Mansion.
