SUBJECT: Upcoming Summer Activities

RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report and Provide Input
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: Since the June 4, 1998 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee
two pool party events called Dive-Ins have been conducted with a total of 130 teen participating. The
Late Night Open Gym has had only three attendees in the first two weeks, therefore Late Night Open
Gym has been canceled. In a previous meeting of Y.A.C. the Committee felt that the need for Open Gym
was being met by the high school coaches. Open gym is being held two days a week for both boys and
girls at no charge by the coaches. Still to come is the dance at the Shannon Community"Center which is

scheduled for Friday, July 10th. Plans have beer underway to organize and publicize the dance.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Committee evaluate the Dive-Ins and discuss the upcoming dance.
